Neural Translation

A synthesis of experience. You are here. Your mind in melody with the surroundings.
The glimmering of light upon the surface of the sea, what a delight it is to be an observer of our own brain. This nucleus of connectivity and infinite imagination. NATURE in all of it’s beauty, within your brain.

The billions of synaptic fireworks casting far and wide. The treasures glimmering in your own night sky within the limits of your skull.
And you converge.

You translate those shimmers upon the endless sea that holds this globe in which we sail, and the imagination becomes reality.

It becomes the topic of conversation. What we see. What we hear. What we do.
We are convinced it is something beyond us, when it is ourselves and our beautiful imagination. The ability to peer into ourselves.

The very makeup of what we are. This glowing being. A multiverse of infinite display.
This is our neural experience. This is the treasure.
Life is a mindset.

Connective Cadence

Connective Cadence
by Greg Albritton
One step in front of the other,
and the pulse of your energy connects with this spinning globe.
As you walk, you are floating in space.
Let the connection to Earth,
be your connection to all other beings.
Feel it in your toes, in your veins,
and in your heart.
When this is felt,
you are alive and well.
Walk, and connect with the world.

Use your illogical

There is no explanation for what you are doing. What you are feeling. Why you are where you are.

Why do you love mint chocolate chip more than almond butter?

Why do you walk faster when you have nothing to do?

Why do you second guess decisions when you will never know the exact future outcome?

These are all gifts.

Unimaginable possibilities that have no certain truth.

Platforms of potential that could never be characterized by a meaning, a value, a place, a thing. The only thing that could be of this, is nothing. Nothing at all that can be defined in your nearest dictionary.

Be illogical.

Dare to believe that there is a thing that you cannot understand. That there is a state of mind that has not a foundation or a purpose resting upon it, other than to be misinterpreted…To be disillusioned by design.

It’s ok to not know the answer.

Matter of fact, it’s better than pretending you know.

Use your illogical.

Run stop signs

The only way to know a stop sign exists is to look at it – to know that the line in which you need to stop at is attached to a social and legal system.

This of course, is for the safety of others and yourself – it’s a very important thing to abide by stop signs when driving.

What about theoretical ‘stop’ signs? The type of stop sign that doesn’t involve driving.

The type of stop sign that stops you from thinking differently or pursuing your dreams?

These stop signs can only occur if you decide to look at them – if you decide that the red octagon and the white line on the asphalt will define your existence (theoretically)…or another way to put it – something aside from yourself will dictate what you do in life.

Each time you stop at a literal stop sign, take a quick moment to think about the things stopping you from what you want to do.

Let each stop sign be an indicator to go do what you want – to go without too much deliberation and go for what you believe to be most important in your life.

There is no stopping you.

Fight without an audience

No one is listening. No one cares. No eyes on you. No definition of despair.

What do you do?

What do you love?

Why do you hesitate, when no one is looking from above?

You’re bullish. You’re mad. You’re a fortunate being, that has gone bad.

Your audience is your objective. Your passion is what you look like in plaid.

Take off your clothes.

Get even more mad.

Go.

Hurry.

Slow down fast.

Create what you love, without wearing a mask.

There is not a prize. Not a piece of history.

Be real to your vision, and let things come naturally.

Fight without an audience in mind.

Mind what you do, but push forward without any eyes on your prize.

What we keep.

The current fires in San Diego has me thinking a lot about materialism and what it would feel like to lose all possessions.

Like many people, I have several material possessions that are important to me. My notebooks of writings, hard drives, and musical instruments are a few of the material things I seem to value most when I think about it.

We are often asked what our most prized possession is…but what about some of our most prized experiences?

Experiences live within you. They go wherever you go. They don’t have matter, yet they matter most. It is a great paradox that provides a sense of self, belonging, and a certain eternal context for your life.

My material possessions are important to me, but the past few years I’ve been more focused on experiences.

Here’s an experience that comes to mind.

During my time in Sri Lanka there were many incredible surf sessions. Endless waves, warm water, good friends, and beautiful scenery…but this particular surf session was different.

It was just me and two good friends I had made during my time in Sri Lanka. We made our way in the tuk tuk (three wheeled vehicle) to one of the longest right waves I’ve ever seen.

All to ourselves, we paddled out in the 80 degree water and paddled as hard as we could to grab our first wave. The wave starts out with a relatively easy take off, then quickly pitches over as it passes a nice sandbar. This is the section to get a cover up or a nice barrel.

We get our waves.

Each of us runs to the sand and up the beach back to the point to grab another one. This repeats. And repeats. My legs get tired while riding the waves because they go on for so long.

The sky turns orange. The sunset comes upon us and we can see the color reflecting off the waves as we ride them. Glowing orange waves and pink sky puts our minds in a state of euphoria.

Legs and arms tired, it’s that after surf session people talk about.

Our tuk tuk driver is waiting on the beach. Time to go.

We strap the boards on. Take a few breathes to imagine ourselves riding more waves. And we’re off.

We continue in the tuk tuk and our driver is excited.

‘Look to the right! You see!’

Wild elephant wanders behind scattered palm trees.

The sky continues to morph into a rich array of timeless colors. The elephant walks calmly, just a few hundred feet away.

Where am I?

How am I on a beach with elephants?

Legs worked.
Arms sore.
Completely consumed by this experience.

We make our way back to the village through the winding cobble stone streets as children put their arms out for high fives.

Time for a cold glass bottled Coke, delicious Sri Lankan food, and a good night of sleep.

What is one of your most prized experiences?

Maybe, just maybe

Maybe, just maybe/

we all have a beautiful voice/

an impossibly charismatic, charming, inner-core/

so powerful and rich, the very thought of it can give you the feeling of warm pins and needles/

when something moves your psychological self in to a physical piece of art/

Maybe, it is just about accepting/

your core/

your richness/

your energy/

Yourself.

Stating the obvious

I drove a total of 4,000 walking steps to pick up my pizza and come back home, which is equivalent of  about half of the way into the stratosphere near the poles on Earth.

Stratosphere

The time it would take me to walk is equivalent to listening to your favorite entire 10 song album.

Ratatat Classics XL

I rode on the equivalent of 7 large male silverback gorillas to travel to my destination.

For the same price I paid for my pizza, I could buy 15 pounds of rice in bulk.

A Drop of Inspiration

Buy products that give more than materials.

Buy products and use services that give more than materials.

I’m writing this post using Dragon Dictate voice to text software. My arms are irritated from too much use on the computer, guitar, piano…so I decided to invest in a speech to text program. It really is amazing to be able to speak and see the text appear before your eyes on your personal computer.

You’re probably wondering why I’m writing about a voice to text program when a picture of a Hall’s wrapper is placed at the beginning of this blog post.

Sometimes things don’t seem to work out as planned. We experience a few days where it can feel like something is out to get us. This doesn’t necessarily involve serious things, or things that we will overcome in a short amount of time, but we all experience a few days where things seem to stack on one another.

These cycles can last for an extended duration of time depending upon external factors like physical health, financial tension, among other things. Our perception of the movement of things, whether they be physical or theoretical, depends upon our mental framework. This framework, either positive or negative in nature, creates a self perpetuating feedback loop that can determine or alter our future.

When we allow a negative framework to overrun our perception of reality, a few things tend to happen.

  • We forget about what we are seeking.
  • We forget about what we have accomplished.
  • We lose sight of what could be determined as our insight.

In speaking with my older brother Jeff (who works primarily with elderly patients in need of physical therapy), he says that the outlook of the individual will often determine the success of their treatment.

Like many people across the nation, I had a cough so I purchased some cough drops.  I happened to purchase Hall’s cough drops.

I grabbed a cough drop, opened it up, and recognized the messaging on the wrapper. It spoke to me.  It spoke to me not only because of the positive messages on the wrapper, but also because it made me realize that the best purchase we can make is a purchase that can inspire us to create and move forward.

Instilling positivity in oneself and those around you may be one of the most important things we can contribute. I hope this ‘drop of inspiration’ can inspire you through times of uncertainty.

P.S. – I spoke (wrote) this a few weeks ago, I’m happy to say my arms feel better and I’m no longer experiencing a cold!
