Being Prolific

Today, we can create almost anything we can imagine, digitally. It is both exhilarating and at times daunting. It feels a bit like searching on Yahoo! for the first time and wondering what to come up with, “I can research anything I want to. So what will I explore right now?”.

This level of ‘power’ can be overwhelming. If one hasn’t cultivated the self, or has enough profound questions and areas of interest, it can lead to a missed opportunity. Where the algorithm takes the steering wheel and overburdens the individual with things that are adjacent to their interests, or simply the most popular thing out there. It’s not their interests though. It’s not their deep perspective being the catalyst for research and exploration.

In the age of ai, this is augmented to a higher degree. “You can build anything you want, what will it be?” This is an entirely fresh tier of capability and wealth of opportunity that for some, is just too much. Why though? This is the greatest opportunity to create ever, right?

It is the greatest opportunity to create thus far, as I see it. And it’s not just about creating, it’s about collaborating with one’s own thoughts with ai. It’s about being more efficient diving into topics of interest and acting on them faster than ever before. It’s augmented action.

Then how can it be difficult to be prolific, even with all of these new tools for the mind?

Focus. Today, the buffet of ‘doing’ is bigger than ever before. It’s bigger than anyone was able to imagine just 3 months ago. Or in some cases, a week ago! It’s an exciting ride, and sometimes too much. It’s like a pinball machine where someone’s interest bounces from one thing to the next.

It doesn’t need to be this way. The unlock to being prolific is commitment. It’s a determination of seeing things through. It’s about leveraging these amazing ai resources to the greatest extent, while having a cohesive vision that makes sense for the individual. Where the creator leans into their perspective. Where one becomes determined to see it all come together.

This is where self cultivation is so vital. To give more to the world, one needs to give to themselves too. And those that have gone ‘inward’ and have cultivated perspectives that are unique and fresh, the digital space today is a giant catalyst of expression.

Today, it’s about understanding one’s appetite. It’s about having the willpower to know that in the buffet of tech accessible today, it only matters if it enables things of value or importance to be created.

This may be a song, or a new app that changes everything. This is the moment to be prolific, which I think, requires more focus than ever before.

P.S. The interface matters in order to create a space of “focus.” Where the driving feeling is one of creativity and collaboration, not keeping up with the Joneses. Subtle details like a pre-prompt of “What are you focusing on today?” or “What are we going to follow-through on?” can go a long way in leading with focus.
